Shipping Container Modifications in Melbourne

A shipping container is a steel box that is already weatherproof, secure and built to be moved. That makes it one of the cheapest ways to get a building onto a site — an office, a workshop, a store room, a ticket booth — without pouring a slab or waiting on a builder.

Commercial Containers Australia supplies the container and manages the modification through the fabricators we work with, each chosen for what they do well. We handle the whole job: sourcing the right unit, getting the work done, and delivering it to your site on our own trucks. You deal with us, not with three different trades.

No job is too big or too small. We have cut a single roller door into a 20ft storage unit, and we have delivered full fit-outs with power, lighting, insulation and windows.

What We Can Build

Open side shipping containers with the side doors open, loaded on a tilt tray for delivery

Open Side

Full-length opening down one side, so the whole container becomes a shopfront or display space. The pair pictured were modified for a winery to show off their product range.

Storage Units With Roller Doors

You choose the container size and the number of roller doors. Popular for self-storage, clubs and trade storage where fast access matters more than floor space.

How It Works

1

Tell us what it is for

Not the specification — the job. A crib room for eight, a lock-up for a mower fleet, a pop-up bar. The use decides the size and the fit-out.

2

We pick the container

Anything from 6ft to 45ft, in the right grade. A unit that will be lined and painted does not need to be A-grade; one that will be a shopfront does.

3

The work is done

We brief the fabricator, keep an eye on the job and let you know where it is up to.

4

We deliver it

On our own trucks, by tilt tray, side loader or crane depending on your site.

Delivered Anywhere in Victoria

A modified container is heavier and more awkward than a standard unit. A fitted-out office can carry another tonne of lining, glazing and services, and glazing does not like being dragged. We allow for that when we quote the transport, and we place the unit rather than slide it wherever the fit-out calls for it.

We deliver modified containers across Melbourne metro, western Victoria, north east Victoria, south west Victoria and Geelong and Gippsland, and interstate on request. See all the areas we service.

If a modification is not what you need, we also have standard containers for sale and for hire from 6ft to 45ft.
