Shipping Containers in Melbourne, Melton, Werribee and the Metro Area

Commercial Containers Australia sells, hires and delivers new, used and refurbished shipping containers right across metropolitan Melbourne – from Melton in the west, Campbellfield in the north, Glen Waverley in the east, and Werribee and everything south.

Our yard is at Tottenham in Melbourne’s inner west, so most metro deliveries are a short run. We can often move quickly when the schedule allows.

Getting shipping containers onto your property in Melbourne

Metro deliveries are usually about access rather than distance. Suburban blocks, narrow driveways and parked cars are the things that catch people out.

Access. A tilt tray needs clear straight-line access of roughly twice the length of the container, plus room to bring the truck in and out. In built-up streets, watch for overhead power lines, street trees, narrow side gates and parked cars on delivery day. Where access is tight, a side loader or crane can place a container into spots a tilt tray cannot reach.

Ground. The ground should be reasonably level and firm. A container carries its weight on its four corner castings, so uneven or soft ground can twist the frame and make the doors hard to open. Driveways, concrete and compacted hardstand are ideal, and timber chocks can be supplied on request. Our administration staff and drivers will happily guide you if you have any concerns, and advice on levelling can be provided at the point of delivery.

Council permits. If a container needs to sit on a nature strip or road reserve, even briefly, your council may require a permit. Requirements vary between councils, so it is worth checking before you book.
